Aussies are continuing to face enormous insurance premium rises despite inflation settling - as the increased frequency of extreme weather events and high cost of rebuilding have driven price hikes.
Fresh research from comparison site Canstar showed average annual home and contents premiums jumped by 14 per cent across the nation over the past 12 months.
Households in NSW faced the worst of the price rises, rising 18 per cent or $403 to $2,613 per home.
However, Aussies in North Queensland and the Northern Territory, where natural disasters and extreme weather plague the regions, continue to face the highest rates.
Premiums jumped 17 per cent, or $700, in the NT while North Queenslanders faced a two per cent, or $112, increase according to Canstar’s report.
