Charlie Kirk's friend Kristin Tate has shared her sadness at his assassination, saying that Kirk was a "future US President" and a "champion of free speech".

Kristin Tate recalled meeting Kirk the “bright-eyed college student” back in 2013 at a Dallas conference saying, “I've never encountered a young person to this day with that kind of passion that Charlie had.”

Tate's was one of thousands of tributes that poured in from all around the world. Many leaders, influencers and fans grieved the 31-year-old father and husband known for his fiery defence of conservative values on American campuses.

Kirk’s deep faith and his founding of Turning Point USA made him a defining figure in the conservative movement, not only in his country but across the world.
