The puck is about to drop on the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners’ 2025/2026 season, and both the players and staff are getting ready for Friday’s (Sept. 12) home opener against the Soo Eagles.

In an interview with the Norther News Head Coach Tyler Pracek said the fans “can expect a completely new program. Our focus is to be extremely competitive and to bring that winning culture back to this awesome town.”

It’s been a rough few years for the Miners, with the club nowhere near being in playoff contention. This year’s club is expected to play a style of game that will focus on being a hard club for opponents to go up against.
