A 38-year-old West Lincoln man who was already charged with possessing a weapon following a tense standoff earlier this week now faces more weapons charges.

Early Monday, Niagara Regional Police responded to a family violence call. Responding officers were told the caller wanted an intoxicated man removed from a home. Before police arrived, though, the man left the home in a white Ford pickup truck and was believed to have a firearm.

Police said the man made statements that raised concerns for his safety, the safety of the broader community and for that of responding officers.

This resulted in police bringing in multiple resources, including the emergency task unit, the canine unit, the marine unit, the air support unit and negotiators. As well, police notified a nearby school and place
