Scotrail has apologised after commuters were left concerned for their safety on a packed train .
Those travelling on the service, which left Cowdenbeath for Edinburgh at 7.56am on Thursday morning, were left fuming after the carriage ended up being "full by the time it reached Dunfermline".
A concerned passenger told Edinburgh Live he wonders "how long it will be until someone is seriously injured".
An image shared with our sister title, which was taken on board the service , shows passengers filling up the aisle.
There were only two carriages provided for the busy morning commuter service and Scotrail have since apologised to any customer who 'experienced overcrowding on their journey'.
