Week 3 of high school football kicks off Friday night, with Glenn County foes Orland and Willows facing off in the 101st Battle of the Axe. The game between the Trojans (2-0) and the Honkers (0-2) will be held at 7:30 in Orland.

Orland has won the past 15 games against Willows. The Honkers last won in 2008, when they defeated the Trojans 46-7. That win capped a three-year win streak from 2006-08 for Willows.

The matchup between Orland and Willows began in 1922, with Willows winning the first game 63-3. The Honkers won five of the first six games, but the Trojans lead the all-time series score 57-42-1 (a 13-13 tie in 1954). There was no game played in 1925, 1958 or 2020.
