CROWN POINT — A jury is deliberating Thursday afternoon over whether a 69-year-old man's fatal shooting of his wife in 2022 was self-defense, murder or another type of violent crime.
The jury heard portrayals from the prosecution and defense during closing arguments Thursday about the shooting of Victoria Staples-Bishop, 60, who was shot Oct. 8, 2022, by her husband, Ellis Bishop, following an argument while they were intoxicated inside their home in the 2300 block of Marshalltown Lane in Gary.
