EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Evansville Police say a local mother has been charged in connection with a recent shooting that claimed the life of a 14-year-old.

As we reported, authorities were called to the scene of a shooting at a home on East Cherry Street on September 4.

Through their investigation, police said they determined the victim was accidentally shot by another juvenile, who was ultimately charged with reckless homicide and dangerous possession of a firearm.

On Thursday, EPD said 36-year-old Rachel Banks had been charged with reckless homicide, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and dealing marijuana in connection to the case.
