Food magazine Bon Appétit has unveiled its 20 Best New Restaurants of 2025, featuring one acclaimed Minneapolis restaurant.

Yia Vang's Vinai is one of only three Midwestern restaurants to make the list, typically dominated by those on the East and West coasts. In fact, that's where more than half of the restaurants on this year's list are located, including four in California alone.

But it's not surprising that Vinai is among them.

Vang frequently says his restaurant is a love letter to his Hmong heritage and his parents, with whom he immigrated to the Midwest from the Thai refugee camp Ban Vinai in 1988.
