CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Williamson County Sheriff's Office arrested a burglary suspect following a theft investigation at the Lake of Egypt Water District.

Deputies responded to the Water District on August 19, 2025, after reports of stolen brass fittings valued at more than $19,000.

The sheriff's office said they found several of the stolen items in a nearby wooded area later that day. On August 21, investigators reported they captured images of a suspect, they identified as Shawn Quertermous, entering the property to collect the stolen items.

A Williamson County judge issued a nationwide arrest warrant for Quertermous on September 3, charging him with burglary, a Class 2 felony.

Deputies arrested Quertermous on September 11, and took him to the Williamson County Jail.
