TUSCALOOSA, AL – A review of the Wisconsin football team’s 38-14 loss to No. 18 Alabama on Sept. 13 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Big picture

This game was a measuring stick for the Badgers , and what we learned is that the team needs improved starts, more discipline and better playmaking on both sides of the ball to compete with some of the teams they'll face in the Big Ten.

But in the big picture of the season, what was lost? Few expected the Badgers to win, and with the Big Ten season a week away the loss could provide a well-time jolt.

Turning point: Alabama makes Badgers D pay for third down penalty

Before Alabama began to empty its bench in the fourth quarter, it scored on six straight possessions, a run that included five straight touchdowns.

The second score hurt most.
