EAST LANSING – Michigan State escaped with a win to remain unbeaten but it could prove costly.
The Spartans (3-0) suffered a series of injuries to key players while surviving a scare for a 41-24 victory against FCS program Youngstown State (2-1) on Saturday .
A trio of offensive starters – star receiver Nick Marsh, right guard Luka Vincic and running back Makhi Frazier all went to the sideline banged up and didn’t return to play. Additionally, receiver and top kickoff returner Alante Brown was unavailable due to a pre-game injury.
Coach Jonathan Smith provided updates on injured players after the game but their status remains unclear with the Spartans opening Big Ten play at USC next week.
