MARIETTA – River Ridge had a simple recipe for victory.
Just use a healthy dose of running backs Michael Pugh and Camden Cox and add a touch of quarterback Hunter Lockerman.
The result was a 44-13 victory over host Pope Friday night in a Region 6AAAAA game.
“It starts with the O-line,” River Ridge coach Mike Collins said. “They take pride in opening holes not only for our two backs but for our quarterback. It was good to see him get those legs going because he is a good runner as well. The two backs did a good job of complimenting each other, inside and outside.”
River Ridge (4-1, 1-1) rushed for 195 yards. Pugh finished with 106 yards on nine carries and Cox had 53 yards on 13 carries. Lockerman had 19 yards on three carries. All three rushed for a touchdown.
