Former Hartlepool MP Peter Mandelson is set to be stripped of his honour of the Freedom of the Borough of the town amid the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Last week Lord Mandelson was sacked as US ambassador by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer over emails to the notorious American paedophile .

Now, following the revelation, a meeting of Hartlepool's Labour Group members agreed that the Honorary Freedom of the Borough title should be removed from Lord Mandelson, who served the town as MP from 1992 to 2004.
