DULUTH — A man who traveled to Oklahoma to pick up a 16-year-old girl and brought her back to his Duluth apartment has been sentenced to prison time.

Jeremy Jon Sertich, 34, received a guideline 17-month term from Judge Theresa Neo on Monday, having pleaded guilty last month to depriving another of parental rights, fourth-degree assault and obstructing the legal process.

Sertich admitted to driving to Oklahoma to pick up the teen, whom he described as his “fiancée,” when he was arrested in May. He also reportedly told investigators he had met her online when she was just 14, and that it was at least the seventh time they had met.
