Poundland has backtracked over closing 68 stores as 11 will remain OPEN. The Black Country giant, which has retail outlets and branches in Birmingham, has announced that 11 stores originally earmarked for closure will now remain open.

Poundland had planned to close 68 stores as part of a shake-up but has halted closures for the final locations. So far, 57 stores have shut under the programme, with six more set to close on September 28.

Now, Poundland has reversed course for stores in Irvine’s Rivergate Centre, Brighton (London Road), and Anniesland (Great Western Road). Barry Williams, managing director of Poundland, said: "We're determined to deliver a simpler, more focused Poundland that keeps its promise of amazing value to customers.
