LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia is planning a special event to honor law enforcement officers and their families, church leaders announced this week.

The gathering, described as a day of “fun, food and surprises,” will take place Sept. 20 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at 4519 East Del Mar Boulevard. Activities will include demonstrations by the SWAT team and gifts donated by Amazon for officers and their children.

“We see the sacrifice that the families of these officers make every day, lending us their loved one to help keep our community safe,” said Deacon Alberto Davila of Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia. “This event is a way to thank both the families and the officers for their service.”
