CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Community members continue to express concerns about security on the Charlotte Area Transit System.

That includes one Charlotte veteran and his family, who said he was attacked on a bus earlier this year .

In March, James Godfrey was beaten on a CATS bus , and the attack has left him paralyzed. Now, his family doesn’t want to see his story forgotten and wants to see security taken seriously.

Family speaks out

WBTV sat down with Godfrey’s sister, Angelia Adams, at her home in Chester County, South Carolina.

She called her brother, James, who’s been getting medical treatment in Charlotte for the last five and a half months. She explained that he was attacked while riding a CATS bus.

“I never thought, I never thought it would happen to me,” he said.
