Iconic pet store chain Petco is downsizing its operations and eliminating dozens of stores nationwide as its year-to-year revenue is down.

The company recently announced plans to close 25 stores after releasing its second quarter earnings report in August.

Petco’s $1.5 billion quarterly net sales decreased year over year by decreased by 2.3% — approximately $35 million — from 2024 to 2025, according to the report.
