COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Dates for the annual Sumter County Fair have been extended until Sept. 21 after concerns from the community that the event would not be able to occur this year.
The event is normally put on by American Legion Post 15 in Sumter, which had its charter revoked in August. Because the group’s charter was revoked, all events were canceled, including the fair and the American Legion Farmer’s Market. Local Boy Scout groups were also unable to use the facility’s location for their meetings.
Acting Post 15 Adjutant Shawn Custer told WIS that the fair was able to be funded through donations from the post’s membership.
