Some popular fruit and vegetable baby food pouches sold at stores in the Southern United States have been recalled over potential lead concerns.

Sprout Organics issued a voluntary recall of one lot of its sweet potato, apple and spinach baby food pouches because “it may contain elevated levels of lead,” according to a company announcement posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's website on Sept. 16.

Sprout Organics manufactures a variety of organic pouches, snacks and meals for babies and toddlers, according to its website.

The affected baby food pouches were sold at Walgreens and other independent stores in the South last fall.
