WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the deadly shooting of a woman in Northeast D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Police said 38-year-old Edgar Arrington of Salisbury, North Carolina, was charged with first-degree murder while armed, aggravating circumstances.

According to police, on July 5, shortly before 1 a.m., officers received reports of an unconscious woman in the 2000 block of Benning Road, NE.

There, a woman, identified as 28-year-old Daquane Johnson, was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital, where she later died.

The incident remains under investigation.
