Longtime Pittsburgh Steelers beat reporter Dale Lolley has died at the age of 56, the team announced on Wednesday. Lolley passed away after an extended battle with cancer.
Lolley had been a contributing writer and editor for the Steelers’ team site for the last three years, but had been on the beat long before that.
Lolley has worked on the Steelers beat for the past 30 years. He graduated from Pitt-Johnstown in 1991 before becoming a sportswriter in Oil City, Pa., just outside of Pittsburgh.
He would then get hired by the Observer-News in Washington, Pa. to cover the Steelers. After that, Lolley became the Steelers beat reporter for DK Pittsburgh Sports, while also contributing to Steelers Digest and doing shows on the Steelers Radio Network starting in 2008.
