DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Onondaga County can move forward with eminent domain to continue its planned redevelopment of ShoppingTown Mall, the state's highest court ruled on Thursday.

Transform Saleco LLC, owner of the former Sears store, and Benderson Development, owner of the old Macy's parcel, both refused to sell their pieces of ShoppingTown and sued to stop Onondaga County from taking them.

The State Court of Appeals decided to not hear the owners' appeals and yields to rulings by lower courts allowing Onondaga County to proceed.

"It's a big win," said Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon. "It's a really big win."
