PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) - The traditional black and gold colors of Johnson Central High School were left at home Thursday in favor of orange, a symbol for hunger relief.

Students participated in a hunger-walk by the football field. It’s part of a partnership with the Christian Appalachian Project on raising awareness for the problem and helping get food to people in need.

Bob Hutchison, a school board member, is also on the board with the Christian Appalachian Project.

“They’re walking to bring this to the forefront, so people can know one in five people go to bed with hunger thoughts, wondering where will their next meal come from,” Hutchison said, “but here in the immediate area that CAP serves, it’s one in four.”
