PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) - After a lawyer’s passing away from a medical emergency which required him to be rushed from the Mercer County Courthouse to a local hospital, it has raised some questions as to how ADA compliant that courthouse is.
Mercer County Commissioner, Bill Archer has some mobility issues and said that the courthouse is compliant with ADA guidelines. He explained they have made it similar to a judicial building in Charleston in terms of ADA accommodations.
“We are always looking for opportunities to be able to to improve the access structure. We are not currently working on one now. When we would do that kind of process, of course, since this is an historic property, we have to go get approval for it,” said Archer.
