CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -- People who use a wheelchair were able to get a free wash and tune-up Friday.

UPMC Carlisle hosted the free event. Wheelchair repairs can be costly, sometimes hundreds of dollars. It could also take several months to repair.

"Beyond the care that we provide in this building on a daily basis," said Josh Wedge, president of UPMC Carlisle, "what that is is an opportunity for our community members, patients or not, to come and just make sure that one, their wheelchair is in clean and good shape, and two, allow us to check for any kind of minor repairs or maintenance that we might be able to help them out with."
