GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) - An Upstate nonprofit is partnering with Duke Energy to give away free trees.
On Friday September 19, Trees Upstate held an event in Greenville to give away over 1,000 trees to the community. The trees come with instruction cards on how to plant and care for them.
The event marks one year since Hurricane Helene.
"It just feels really great to know that we're doing something to help reforest the canopy after the hurricane," said Hannah Farr, the Community Engagement Coordinator for Trees Upstate. "All we've heard is that people were grateful to get these trees, you know, especially for free, and that they just appreciate what we're doing as trees upstate.
