YOUNGSTOWN - A student is recovering in the hospital following a shooting on Saturday evening near Youngstown State University's Stambaugh Stadium.

According to a Facebook post by Cardinal Mooney High School, one of its students was injured by a gunshot wound and was immediately taken to the hospital.

Cardinal Mooney's Principal Brendan Considine says the student is in stable condition and is recovering.

The post also states, "At Cardinal Mooney, we place the safety and security of our students as the highest priority. We join everyone involved in expressing our prayers for healing for our entire school family and our community."

A football game between Cardinal Mooney High School and Chardon High School was held at Stambaugh Stadium beginning at 7 p.m.
