MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Hundreds of people gathered on Madison’s west side Sunday morning for a two-mile walk and run aimed at raising money and awareness for ovarian cancer.

The Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance (WOCA) brought together survivors, loved ones and volunteers.

Executive Director Ashley Schneider said WOCA is a statewide organization that supports anyone affected by ovarian cancer.

“Of course everyone’s dealing with their own personal battles, but they get really close, they hang out outside of events, they go to lunch, they have social groups.,” Scneider said. “It’s really a bond that they share, so there’s not a ton of sadness today, it’s really just a celebration.”

WOCA supports more than 500 women who are currently battling ovarian cancer or are recent survivors.
