A man has been taken into custody after he allegedly took two kids from a home in Newington on Sunday.

The Newington Police Department said they responded to a reported domestic disturbance at approximately 12:10 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers learned that John Lacen-Romero, 36, had allegedly assaulted a woman in the home, police said.

Following the assault, the man took the two children from their home, placed them in a car and left the area, police said.

The Newington Police Department coordinated with two different police agencies to try to locate the vehicle, and ensure the safety of the children, authorities said.
