In Vanderbilt football’s not-so-distant past, there were plenty of losses that led to checking the record books, seeking to discover whether the Commodores’ misery had reached a new level.

These days? It’s exactly the opposite.

With every Vandy victory, the Commodores seem to be recording one superlative after another, leading to historic comparisons of a far more positive nature.

The latest examples came Saturday, when the ‘Dores thrashed Georgia State 70-21 in front of a sellout crowd at FirstBank Stadium, earning revenge for last year’s stunning loss to the Panthers and rising two spots to No. 18 in this week’s Associated Press poll.
