Several reports have been made over the last 24 hours that the Trump administration is addressing security concerns about TikTok through a possible Oracle-led private investment deal.
The joint venture is said to include the Austin-based Oracle and Menlo Park Calif.-based Silver Lake Partners, and could see the participation of billionaires Rupert Murdoch and Michael Dell. A White House official told the Associated Press the U.S. administration will not be part of the deal.
On Monday, the administration laid out a timeline that would have Oracle, Silver Lake and other investors take over U.S. operations of the Chinese video platform by early 2026.
In 2024, Congress passed a law that was supposed to ban TikTok from app stores unless its parent company, ByteDance, sold U.S. operations
