CHARDON, Ohio — A $50,000 winning ticket for the Ohio Lottery’s Billion scratch-off game was sold at the Walmart Supercenter in Chardon, lottery officials announced last week.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, claimed one of the game’s third-tier prizes. After mandatory state and federal tax withholdings, the cash payout will be about $36,000, according to the lottery.
The odds of winning a $50,000 prize in the Billion game are about 1 in 99,692. Lottery officials said 115 prizes at that level remain unclaimed, along with top prizes of $1 million a year for life.
The Ohio Lottery reminds players that scratch-off prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing or game end date.
