(WHTM) -- Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis is calling on Pennsylvania's federal lawmakers for more funding to support crime victims.
Davis says he sent letters to every member of Pennsylvania's congressional delegation. He says funding streams are low for the Victims of Crime Act and the Victims Compensation Assistance Program. That's why he's requesting $1.9 billion of federal money from the current budget.
"These funds go directly to victims to offset the expenses they might incur, like medical bills, funeral costs, relocation services," Davis said. "In Pennsylvania, VOCA-funded victim services programs help nearly 150,000 Pennsylvanians each year."
