PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A Peoria County judge ordered that a Peoria teen remain in custody pending the outcome of his case in connection to a July shooting, officials say.
Zymere Wright, 17, was charged last week with aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with the July 19 incident where a 19-year-old was shot during a sale of shoes, said Peoria County State's Attorney spokeswoman Anna Perales.
If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.
His age and the nature of the charge made his case an automatic transfer from the juvenile division to the adult felony division.
At 11:30 p.m., officers with the Peoria Police Department were called to the 3000 block of North Renwood Avenue to a report of shots fired, Perales said.
