HOOVER, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Efforts to revitalize Hoover’s Riverchase Galleria took center stage at Monday night’s city council meeting.
A consulting firm is recommending millions of dollars in renovations as the public got its first look at the months-long study .
The two-phase recommendation would cost the city more than $200 million, according to estimates made by Hunden Partners, the firm in charge of the study.
Their proposals included adding apartments and demolishing a considerable amount of existing retail space.
The firm says renovations to the southern portion of the mall are needed, including demolishing the former Sears and Macy’s Department store, the latter was put up for sale last year .
