Australia’s cost of living crisis is having a major impact on healthcare decisions, with a new study showing an alarming number of people are cancelling doctors visits and skipping medication for financial reasons.
According to the seventh annual Australian Healthcare Index , increases in the cost of living have impacted the healthcare decisions of more than three out of four Australians, with young people and women the most affected.
The survey of more than 8,000 Australians found 76 per cent of Australians have changed their healthcare decisions due to financial pressure, with this climbing to 86 per cent for those aged 18-34, 83 per cent for those aged 35-54, and 52 per cent for those aged over 65.
