HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A man was carjacked at gunpoint on Monday night outside a pizza shop on South Whitney Street, according to Hartford police.

Officers responded to 264 South Whitney St. around 7:57 p.m. on Sept. 22 after receiving a report of a carjacking.

When they arrived, they spoke with the victim, who said he was leaving South Whitney Pizza when he was approached by a man wearing dark clothing and a mask.

Police said the suspect, described as a Hispanic male, confronted the victim and a struggle broke out.

During the altercation, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired a single shot next to the victim’s ear, but did not strike him.

The suspect then took the victim’s car keys and a chain from around his neck before fleeing the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
