DEXTER, Maine — A person was airlifted to a hospital Monday night after a side-by-side rollover crash in Dexter.

The Dexter Fire Department was dispatched at about 8:30 p.m. and responded with Mayo EMS, LifeFlight of Maine, and Maine Game Wardens.

The patient had to be removed from the vehicle by emergency officials before being treated by first responders and then transported to a LifeFlight helicopter at a landing zone set up at Lakeshore Restaurant, the fire department said .

During the response, one individual became combative with emergency personnel, according to the fire department. Fire officials said the situation was quickly brought under control and no responders suffered serious injuries.

The patient’s name and condition were not immediately released.
