A three-vehicle crash in Ponchatoula Monday night sent eight people to area hospitals, including three children under the age of 8. Police Chief Bry Layrisson said some of the injuries are "life threatening."
Ponchatoula police said in a news release Tuesday that one of the children was taken by air to a hospital.
"These are very significant injuries," Layrisson said in an interview.
Layrisson said the investigation is continuing.
Police said the crash occurred around 6:27 p.m. on U.S. 51 North, near St. Patrick's Boulevard. Details were not available, but police said the crash involved a Chevrolet Silverado pickup and GMC Terrain and Hyundai Tuscon SUVs.
