A man has been arrested and charged after a human trafficking raid in Edinburgh.

Cops stormed a property in the Marchmont area of the capital this morning as they launched a crackdown on "despicable" human trafficking plots.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged during the pro-active operation.

The man has been charged with human trafficking offences and has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

A four-figures sum of cash was also seized during the sting.

Senior officers say those involved in human trafficking "exploit vulnerable" people as they vowed to hunt criminals down.
