LONDON, Ky. —

A Kentucky couple says they're ready to start a new chapter after scoring a life-changing lottery win on a scratch-off ticket.

The couple from London, Kentucky, who wishes to stay anonymous, won $1.5 million from playing the Kentucky Lottery's $20 “Wild Cash 200X. Advertisement

The husband told lottery officials that he usually sticks to $10 games but bought the ticket recently from a lottery vending machine.

"I’m surprised that I even bought that ticket,” he said. “I usually buy it from the counter.”

He said after scratching the ticket he couldn't believe his eyes.

Lottery officials said he matched the number 21 on the ticket to win the game’s $1.5 million top prize.

The couple chose the lump sum payment and after taxes, took home $738,000.
