MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis Police arrested a man with over 1,000 prescription pills, MPD said.

MPD said officers arrested 58-year-old Davis Hamilton, a convicted felon, on Thursday with alprazolam, dextroamphetamine, oxycodone, methadone, hydrocodone, oxycontin, and carisoprodol.

Police claim Hamilton distributed the drugs throughout Memphis and said that he was carrying the pills on him at the time of his arrest. Officers also found a handgun, a Glock switch, marijuana, and cash connected to recent drug sales when they took Hamilton into custody, according to MPD.

"This arrest removes a dangerous mix of guns and drugs from our streets—making our community safer," MPD said in a social media post announcing Hamilton's arrest.
