The owner of Hoffman's Gun Center in Newington has been charged with stealing a firearm that was mistakenly delivered to the store.

Scott Hoffman, 68, of Old Lyme, was arrested on Sept. 8.

A Newington officer began an investigation in July after an employee selling a Baretta 12-gauge shotgun worth $15,000 entered the transaction through the State Licensing and Firearms Unit and received a notification that the firearm was listed as stolen.
