OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized on Tuesday, Sept. 23, after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle, Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said.
The crash happened around 7:48 a.m. in Georgetown Township.
Police said the Jenison teen was riding his bicycle on Basswood Street when he crossed Lamplight Drive.
The boy stopped at the stop sign at Lamplight Drive and then crossed the street in front of a Chevy Suburban traveling north, police said. After, the boy was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for moderate injuries.
The driver of the Suburban, a 38-year-old Jenison woman, and her 3-year-old passenger were not injured.
Speed was not a factor in the crash, police said.
