OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A 14-year-old from Jenison was hospitalized on Tuesday after being struck by an SUV while riding his bike in Georgetown Twp., according to the Ottawa Co. Sheriff's Office (OCSO).
OCSO said the teen was riding his bicycle on Basswood St. around 7:45 a.m. He first stopped at the stop sign and then crossed Lamplight Dr. While crossing, a Chevy Suburban heading north on Lamplight Dr. struck him, according to authorities.
OCSO said a 38-year-old woman from Jenison was driving the Suburban. She and a 3-year-old passenger in the car were uninjured. The bicyclist was transported to a nearby hospital for his injuries.
