WASHINGTON — A 17-year-old high school student accused of shooting a D.C. firefighter appeared before a judge on Tuesday afternoon.
Marcellus Dyson Jr. is being charged as an adult with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, and aggravated assault while armed for shooting off-duty firefighter Gary Dziekan in Capitol Hill on Saturday.
The teenager appeared before Judge Heide Herrmann on Tuesday afternoon in handcuffs and a heavily bandaged left hand. Dyson's attorney asked that he be released so he could go back to school before his next court date, which is scheduled for later this week. While the attorney said Dyson has immense family support, the judge denied the request and ordered the teen be held without bond.
