YOUNGSTOWN Full Spectrum Community Outreach has announced plans to open an emergency housing shelter for unhoused LGBTQ+ youth.

In 2023, Full Spectrum purchased the Hope House Visitation Center on Earle Avenue in Youngstown with the vision of creating a 60-day transitional shelter for unhoused LGBTQ+ youth.

The non-profit said in a statement released Tuesday that opening that shelter remains its long-term goal, but the urgent need for housing in the LGBTQ+ community has caused it to shift its immediate focus.

Full Spectrum plans to open a one-to-two-day emergency housing shelter alongside its 60-day shelter.

"This phased approach will allow us to begin serving clients sooner, with plans to expand as resources grow," the statement reads.
