The Front Royal Town Council voted Monday to restrict housing types in the historic district but also allow other dwellings by permit.

Vice Mayor Amber F. Veitenthal and council members Melissa A. DeDomenico-Payne, Joshua L. Ingram, H. Bruce Rappaport, R. Wayne Sealock and Glenn A. Wood voted in favor of amending the zoning ordinance pertaining to housing in the historic district. Mayor Lori A. Cockrell attended the meeting and votes to break a tie.
